The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre at the University Medical City today inaugurated the world’s latest integrated automated injector device for the preparation and administration of high-energy radiopharmaceuticals.
This medical milestone reflects the rapid advancement of nuclear medicine services within the University Medical City and marks a significant step forward in the development of advanced diagnostic and radiotherapeutic capabilities.
The device supports an extensive range of radioisotopes used in both diagnosis and treatment, making it the most versatile and efficient of its kind. It is characterised by its ease of use, precision in preparation and injection, and adherence to the highest standards of safety and radiation protection through its intelligent shielding systems.
The device’s features contribute to enhanced operational efficiency and improved workflow within the Radiopharmacy Unit by automating preparation and injection processes. It also offers advanced capabilities for remote management of procedures via an automated control screen or online platform, enabling comprehensive monitoring and control of all device functions within a radiation-shielded environment, and significantly reducing occupational radiation exposure.
The introduction of this device aligns with the University Medical City’s vision of strengthening the national healthcare system by localising advanced medical technologies that enhance service sustainability and quality. It further reinforces its role as a leading academic, clinical and research centre contributing to the realisation of Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to build an innovative, knowledge-driven health sector.
