The Directorate General of Press, Publishing and Advertising oversees a range of press and cultural publications, including daily newspapers, magazines, and monthly and quarterly supplements, in addition to printing and advertising services. Foremost among these publications is Oman newspaper, a national media platform that reinforces the role of Omani journalism and offers readers rich and diverse content. The newspaper translates its mandate into tangible outcomes through an integrated ecosystem of media channels and platforms, including the daily print edition, its website, social media accounts, the Oman newspaper application, as well as special supplements published on various national occasions, the Oman Cultural Supplement, the Oman Scientific Supplement, and the Governorates Supplement.
The Directorate also publishes the Oman Observer, an English-language daily newspaper that covers local and international news while highlighting developments in the Omani economy, as well as social, political, and cultural issues. The newspaper further provides in-depth analyses and opinion articles contributed by a range of local and international writers.
Among the Directorate’s most prominent publications is Nizwa Quarterly, one of the leading cultural periodicals in the Arab world. The magazine focuses on literature, criticism, philosophy, poetry, and intellectual discourse, and features interviews with prominent cultural figures. It also offers coverage of the arts, cinema, and theatre, alongside translated texts and works that enrich the cultural landscape of both the Sultanate of Oman and the wider Arab region.
