Muscat,(ONA) - Today the annual Omani-British Evening of the Geography of Oman, organized by the Omani British Society in cooperation with the Omani Geological Society and the British Royal Geographical Society in London, will be held online via YouTube and Zoom from Muscat and London at the same time, owing to the exceptional situations the world is going through due to the Coronavirus (Covid 19) pandemic.

The event includes a lecture on the Omani natural heritage entitled “The unique geology and caves in Oman” presented by Dr. Muhammad bin Hilal Al-Kindi and Nabil Al-Saqri from the Speleological Team of Oman, in addition to a recent film presented for the first time about the aesthetics and secrets of Omani geology. The evening will be broadcasted on the YouTube channel of the Geological Society of Oman tomorrow at 7 pm Oman local time.

It is worth noting that this event comes within the framework of a program plan that began 5 years ago as an annual event that takes place in October every year for a period of 7 years in coordination between the Omani and British sides to cover an aspect of Omani geography sponsored by the Diwan of Royal Court. During the past years, the evening event covered a number of topics, including whales in Oman and Omani ibex in 2018 with the support of the Office of Environmental Conservation at the Diwan of Royal Court and flowers in 2019 with the support of the Omani Botanical Garden. This year, it covers the unique geology and caves of Oman under the supervision of the Geological Society of Oman.
