Muscat, (ONA) - The Omani writer Bashayer Al- Muqimiyah in her story series “When the Demons Awake” presents a collection of interesting-style stories, trying to arouse fear and spreading terror in the reader, so that seek with intermittent breath towards the conclusion, which is also not without an attempt to spread terror through its confirmation.
The author addresses the reader of her book published by “Now Publishers and Distributors” in Amman, saying, “When you finish reading these stories, hide them from the reach of the abusers. If you fall into the wrong person’s hands, the next end will be your end, and this will never be pleasant.”
She dedicated the book to herself, saying, “To me, I was ten years old, when I thought that there was a monster below every child's bed in this world, and to all those who were afraid; these were not hallucinations, it is the truth!” The author preserved in all thresholds the theme of terror and mystery, emphasizing that the endings may not always be pleasant. There are many tragic endings.
The reader reads on the back cover what supports this idea, “Yes, it is the truth, as long as a person actually lives it, it is a reality, even if it was a creation of imagination. The human imagination is reality even if it is intangible!” Schizophrenics may suffer from hallucinations by up to 70 percent, and patients with depression by 15 percent. As studies have shown, hallucinations also affect children by 14 percent, and they include false visual, gustatory hallucinations, smelling and touch hallucinations, and intellectual hallucinations!
The collection includes three stories, in which the author relied on the traditional method of storytelling, and all of them came from the words of Grandfather Suleiman, and he recited them to his grandchildren. The time that began in 2048 has been moved back through the memory of the grandfather to the year 1980. These stories work the grandchildren's imaginations to suppose and believe the existence of frightening characters, so they live with a real imaginary life at the same time, and often push them to risks.
