Muscat,ONA) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth represented by the Omani Society for Fine Arts this evening held an artistic workshop via video conferencing entitled (Embodiment of Heritage in Artworks) presented by fine artist and designer Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Rifai from the State of Kuwait.
The lecturer began the workshop by providing a brief overview of his career in the world of fine art. He indicated that he started practicing drawing and design since he was ten years old, and he sought to refine and develop this talent through the art teachers at his school and a number of fine artists known in the State of Kuwait. After his talent matured, he was able to draw 350 paintings, most of them inspired by the Gulf heritage, and he has participated in artistic events held in the Sultanate in the past years.
Kuwaiti fine artist Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Rifai touched on the relationship between heritage and the fine artist and his embodiment of this heritage in most of his artistic works. He said, “We have a long and rich heritage in the countries of the Cooperation Council which constitutes an inspiration for any talented fine artist and there is a common heritage among these countries, so any artist should not be limited to his artistic works embodying the heritage of his country, but he must see the heritage of most Gulf and Arab countries and embody it in his artistic works.” He asserted that the GCC fine artist should seek to hold exhibitions and artistic competitions outside his country to highlight his high-end works, whether they embody Arab heritage or embody different Arab social issues.
