Muscat, (ONA / FANA) - The project (Commemorating the Archaeological Moment by Art) continues its restoration activities in the neighborhoods of Al Ain and Al Sawad in the village of Amti, in the Wilayat of Izki, with the great cooperation and collaboration of the people of the village and with the support and contribution of the Omani companies, governmental and private institutions, individuals and plastic artists who participated in the exhibition “Amti Al Khair”, which is held at the Bait Al Zubair Museum.

This project is considered one of the most important voluntary model projects, whose idea was implemented by the plastic artist Maryam Al Zadjali at the beginning of 2019, with the aim of highlighting the landmarks of a country rich in ancient heritage and history that extends thousands of years ago, in which the Omani people have contributed to the construction of castles, forts and ancient villages that are famous for their stunning beauty and distinctive identity , and it deserves to be a material from which the plastic artists can be inspired in research and creativity to be at the forefront of their artistic projects.

The idea of the project presents an exceptional idea, in which the artist uses her experience and long experience in the field of plastic arts, through a modern historical artistic conception that makes the village a plastic painting with its natural components such as aflaj, water, rocks, mountains, plains, trees and orchards, so that the painting expresses its daily reality of an ancient and original history. The people had a human role in promoting its principles and behaviors, so it became an Omani identity and a civilized heritage that its manifestations and symbols are passed down to the generations of the village to give it a creative state that makes it a plastic painting worthy of contemplation, examination and protection.

Maryam Al-Zadjali asserts that although the current period was difficult due to the Covid 19 pandemic, it has yielded beneficial results for the village. Work continues in it with the restoration of some important places, which are considered the heart of the village and attractive artistic and tourist elements related to the ancient past.

The artist confirmed that the restoration and repair process in this project took place in several stages. In the first phase, the Sabah al-Suqma gate, entrance, wall and well were restored with the addition of aesthetic elements. In the second phase, cosmetic lighting was installed in front of the village entrance, in cooperation with the municipality of Muscat and the municipality of Izki.
