Famous Plastic Artist Christo Has Died at Age 84

New York,(ONA) /The Bulgarian-American artist, famous for his artwork, which often showed massive monuments as wrapped as gifts, died at the age of 84.

A statement on his website said that the artist died at his home in New York.

Christo Vladimirov Javacheff was born in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, and travelled to France where he met his wife and partner, the late artist Jean-Claude Dinat de Guilbun in Paris.

The couple have worked together to create outstanding environmental art artwork for decades, for example wrapping the “Little Bay” coast in Sydney and the Reichstag building in Berlin.

The couple's office said that, at Kristo's wish, the packaging of the “Arc de Triomphe” monument in Paris is still on the way to completion next year.

"Christo lived a busy life, and not only dreamed of what seemed impossible, but he accomplished it. The works of Christo and Jean-Claude have brought people together in shared experiences all over the world, and their works still live in our emotions and memories,” the office added.
