Amsterdam,(ONA) - The cavalier Ahmed bin Salem Al-Hamdani on his horse Tagazzo of the Royal Cavalry passed the competitions of the Dutch Armelo Endurance Race with two stars organized by the International Equestrian Federation for a distance of 120 km with the participation of riders from different countries of the world.

The race consisted of 4 stages, each stage reaching a distance of 30 kilometres. After the competition that characterized the race in its various stages and tracks, Al-Hamdani passed the race successfully and added to his credit a second horse that qualified him to participate in a 160-kilometer international race.

The International Equestrian Federation had recently changed the system for qualifying riders for the Endurance World Championship, whereby every rider must pass two international races of 120 km each and then qualify to participate in an international race of 160 km and if he passes it he qualifies for the Endurance World Championship.

A large group of participating horses were disqualified during the Dutch Armelo race, due to heavy rain and low temperature. Three riders of the Royal Cavalry did not complete the race due to the horses ’muscle spasms, namely, Ali bin Hassan Al Farisi on his horse Khanjar, Hisham bin Saleh Al Farisi on his horse Melhab and Faisal bin Ibrahim Al Farisi on his horse Kara.

The Royal Cavalry seeks to guarantee a group of riders and horses to qualify for the World Cup so that the technical staff can choose the best of them.

The Dutch Armelo Race, which witnessed two races on two different days, was attended by Brigadier General Abdul Razzaq bin Abdul Qadir Al Shahourzi, Commander of the Royal Cavalry, who urged the participating riders to achieve advanced results in the two races and in the various participations in the upcoming races in order to achieve advanced results and to honourably represent the Sultanate in the Endurance World Championship.
