Muscat, (ONA) - The Planning and Follow-up Committee of the Oman Olympic Committee held its third meeting this year, in which it reviewed many important files postponed, including sports tournaments postponed in light of the novel coronavirus pandemic, and reprogramming and rescheduling the strategic goals set in light of the amendments made to the dates, within the framework of the existing coordination between the Oman Olympic Committee and the sports associations and committees to ensure the continued preparation of our national teams in preparation for participating in the regional, continental and international tournaments during the next year.

In this context, the committee reviewed the importance of being present in these sessions in an appropriate manner after knowing what is available for our teams in terms of qualifying competitions within the plans and objectives set by the sports associations and committees and the desire that they conveyed to the committee according to the revised dates after the relocation of the tournaments that are supposed to be held in the current year to the next year, most notably the 32nd Olympic Games (Tokyo 2021), the Asian Beach Games (Sanya - China), the third GCC Games in Kuwait, in addition to the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Turkey, the Asian Indoor Games in Thailand, and finally the Asian Games for Youth in China.

The committee raised the appropriate recommendations to the Board of Directors of the Omani Olympic Committee to confirm participation in the aforementioned sports tournaments in accordance with the technical standards and principles established and approved for external participation, and to study and analyse the technical levels of the players in light of the failure to implement the plans precisely developed as a result of the exceptional circumstances, and to work towards creating the conditions available to compensate for this partial interruption of training for our national teams within the framework of a joint work program and close cooperation with sports associations, committees and their technical bodies.
