Muscat,(ONA) - The Sultanate’s Girl Guides obtained a certificate of activating the sustainable development goals from the Committee of Guides for the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council during the participation of the General Directorate of Scouts and Girl Guides in the 25th meeting of the Technical Committee and the 21st meeting of the Training and Programs Committee of the Gulf Girl Guides.

The General Directorate of Scouts and Girl Guides was represented at the two meetings by Ibtisam bint Abdullah Al Amiriya, Badriya bint Khalfan Al Jabriya and Zainab bint Saud Al Habsi, through video conferencing, headed by the Chair of the Gulf Girl Guides Committee and in the presence of the General Secretariat of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council for Economic and Development Affairs in the Human Affairs and Environment Sector Department Young.

Hind Mohammed Al-Holi, Chair of the Gulf Girl Guides Committee for the Arab Gulf States, praised the efforts made by member states in activating the general plan for the activities and programs of the Gulf Girl Guides Committee, which it is hoped that he will come up with recommendations that will be reflected in the development of the guide work in all the countries of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council.

During the meeting, the annual report of the GCC Guides Committee and the Training and Programs Committee for 2019/2020 was reviewed and approved. The Chairperson of the Committee reviewed the recommendations of the twenty-fourth meeting of the GCC Guides Committee and what was done in this regard, in addition to reviewing the general plan and discussing the remaining programs. The committee's 2019 financial report was also discussed and approved.

After that, the Chairperson of the Training and Programs Committee presented the reports of the activities that had been implemented, including the report of the ninth camp for Gulf Girl Guides, which was hosted by the Sultanate during the period from February 2 to 8, under the slogan (For the Sake of Her World). The diversity of its programs and activities was praised as well as all capabilities prepared by the General Directorate of Scouts and Girl Guides for its success according to the planned goals.

The Sultanate’s girl guides submitted a proposal for the criteria for implementing a competition for the girl guides units in the Gulf countries entitled (We and Corona) and the stages to be implemented during the coming period, as the results of the competition will be announced in March 2021.
