Muscat, September 6 (ONA) - The Oman Chess Committee today announced the opening of online registration for the club tournament for public in its third edition, and the club tournament for age groups in its second edition, which will be organized by the Committee next October online.
This tournament is one of the official tournaments that the committee has been implementing annually, through which the committee seeks to rehabilitate and develop the levels of players and work on the continuity of training and participation by the players and the participation of clubs in activating their chess sport and embracing the largest number of practitioners of different groups and ages.
The registration for the tournament is available through the committee's website, as the deadline for registration will be on September 30th. Some technical modifications will be installed in the coming versions after studying them and assessing the viability of their implementation and the success of the goal of their application. The most important of these changes will be the participation of a player under 16 years old as well as a girl in each participating team with the aim of developing the levels of the junior and girls' teams.
The two tournaments will apply the rules and laws of the International Classic Chess Federation, and the matches will be conducted with the player match system using the Swiss Manager program. The qualifying and finals tournaments will be played by groups according to the Swiss system. The organizing committee allocated financial prizes for the first-place winners, in addition to coloured medals.
Player monitoring will be adopted by sharing the camera, sound and screen, which is the same system currently adopted for international tournaments by the International Chess Federation (FIDE), with technical and administrative parameters approved by the FIDE. It will be implemented for the first time in the Sultanate, and before the start of the tournament, the committee will have some practical experiments before implementation to find out some administrative aspects.
The championship is technically supervised by a group of international and national referees under the supervision of international referee Muslim Al-Wadhahi and his assistant, international referee Hamdan Al-Hinai. A group of local referees and official organizers who have recently been approved by the International Federation will also participate in the tournament, and the committee seeks to qualify and train them to manage various official tournaments, both local and international.
