Muscat,(ONA) The Oman School Sports Association today launched the first digital database project to classify school sports specialists, supervisors and teachers in the fields of refereeing, training and administration under the name of School Sports Members Database in order to facilitate the process of retrieving information and employing it more effectively.

Ahmed bin Darwish Al Balushi, Secretary General of the Association stressed the importance of the project, saying, “The digital database contributes to building the Association’s plans based on strengthening coordination and partnership with partners, especially the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Oman Olympic Committee, sports associations and committees. This step comes within the framework of the Oman School Sports Association’s endeavour to prepare future programs for professional development and a step towards preparing a general and comprehensive database that includes the principle of specialization in a specific field, whether at the level of training or refereeing in a specific game, and in line with the great and tremendous development in the technologies used, as well as working on easy access to data.

“The project includes the principle of specialization in a specific field, whether at the level of training, refereeing, or management in sports in its various forms, and endeavouring with partners to develop the skills of those targeted by providing a number of seminars and foundational courses for the teachers sector, as well as periodically promotion courses,” Al-Balushi added.

He explained that the importance of the school sport members database is based on several points, the most important of which is that it helps greatly in speeding up the process of accessing data of referees, coaches and administrators in all matters related to sports in general and school sports in particular to be employed in the future activities and programs of the Oman School Sports Association, sports associations and committees and other specialized sports committees, in addition to easy access to data and identification of pre-qualification priorities according to the fields. It is also working on counting the number of Omani coaches, referees and administrators affiliated with the Omani School Sports Association in all disciplines and fields of sport, and compiling data in a hierarchical manner that is easy to manage.

The Secretary General of the Oman School Sports Association indicated that the association began to activate the delivery of many seminars, courses and programs in various fields and specializations, with the project of rehabilitation programs for school sport specialists and teachers, which was launched on the first of August and will continue until the beginning of next October. Approximately 41 programs will be presented during this period for teachers, supervisors and school sports specialists affiliated with the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the school sports associations and committees. He added that this program coincides with the launch of a project to develop and update a database of teachers, specialists and supervisors in the field of school sports in a way that can be used to qualify and develop programs and seminars for the targeted people.
