Muscat,(ONA) - A number of first-class table tennis referees conducted the international test for obtaining the international badge through video conferencing, in the context of the interest of the Oman Table Tennis Committee (OTTC) in developing and qualifying local referee competencies and giving them the opportunity to obtain the international badge and running high-level matches at the regional and international level.
For the first time, the Referees' Committee organized the test for the international badge via video conferencing due to the exceptional circumstances experienced by the Sultanate and various countries of the world due to the spread of Covid 19 pandemic. The international test date was preceded by many online seminars using modern communication technologies, with the participation of a number of experts in the field of table tennis refereeing from Arab and foreign countries.
The sessions included a number of different topics, including a general review of the law and new changes in some chapters of the law, as well as a detailed explanation of how the examination will organized, especially as it is taking place for the first time on modern technical platforms.
Muhammad Bin Hamid Al Jassasi, Chairman of the Referees’ Committee, talked about the international test saying, “Refereeing is an essential pillar of the table tennis game system. We are working to develop various technical aspects and skills of the game referees and provide them with all the changes and developments taking place in the game law, and that increasing the number of international referees in the Sultanate is an important issue to us.”
“We seek to have a large group of qualified international referees, especially that the committee will organize many international and regional tournaments in the next stage, which requires the presence of a number of international referees, in addition to preparing our referees and giving them the full opportunity to referee the crucial matches in international championships organised outside the Sultanate,” he added.
It is noteworthy that the referees who conducted the the international test are Fahd bin Saeed Al-Farsi, Buthaina bint Khamis Al-Ghaferiya, Khalid bin Saeed Al-Alawi, Ahmed bin Masoud Al-Abrawi, Khamis bin Talib Al-Hamrashdi, Fatima bint Talib Al-Haddabiya, Ayman bin Salem Al-Jahdami and Suleiman bin Ahmed Al-Hatimi.
