Berlin,(ONA) - The 36 clubs competing in the first-tier and second-tier football tournaments in Germany will be forced to move forward with less financial return on TV rights starting from the 2021/2022 season for four seasons.
The Bundesliga chief executive Christian Schiffer revealed on Monday the details of the TV broadcast rights package, which has a total revenue of 4.4 billion euros (9.9 billion dollars), 200 million euros less than the previous tender.
Schiffer was satisfied with the tender value despite its low value, and said, “The result is very good and gives the league the ability to plan. This value is also very competitive compared to other major leagues.”
The Sky network remained the most important partner for the German football content, despite the decrease in the number of matches that will be broadcast over the network. In the future, “Sky” will broadcast 200 matches in Bundesliga along with all the matches of the second division and simultaneous broadcasts of the two leagues.
The Dazn electronic platform has increased the number of matches it will broadcast to 106 games including the matches that will be held on Friday and Saturday.
The free Sat 1 channel also won the right to broadcast nine games live, including the Super Cup and matches in the first, 17th and 18th rounds.
The free Sports 1 channel also broadcasts 33 second-tier matches to be played on Saturday evening, in a parallel broadcast with Sky.
