Madrid, (ONA) - Real Madrid, the second in La Liga, announced today that its international defender, Nacho Fernandez, is suffering from a muscle injury in the right thigh. “After tests carried out on our player Nacho Fernandez by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the right thigh,” a club statement said on its official website.
The club did not reveal the expected duration of the player’s absence, which was set by some media between two and three weeks. The Nacho injury is a painful blow to the Royal Club at a time when it is preparing to resume the league championships suspended from three months due to the new coronavirus, scheduled for next Thursday with 11 stages remaining that will end in Next July 19.
The Real Madrid coach, its former French international star Zinedine Zidane, resorted to Nacho services a few times this season, playing only nine out of 27 in the league. He was a basic player only in four games and scored two goals. Nacho missed a long time at the start of the season due to a knee injury and did not participate in 11 games between October and December.
Real Madrid, who are two points behind Barcelona in La Liga, is back in the league competition by facing its guest Eibar at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium (6 thousand seats) at their training ground at Valdebebas on the outskirts of the capital, due to the ongoing works to expand its main stadium Santiago Bernabeu.
Nacho became the second player in the royal team to be injured since the training resumed on May 8th, after the 22-year-old Serbian international striker Luka Jovic, who suffers from a fracture of his right foot.
