Muscat, December 1 (ONA) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth agreed to end the 2020 Ministry's Shield basketball competitions and to distribute the prizes equally between the clubs of Seeb, Nizwa and Ahli Sidab, which qualified for the finals of the competition.
The approval came in response to a message from the Oman Basketball Association that it sent to the Ministry after the three clubs demanded that they do not wish to complete the final matches to determine the three positions in light of the preventive conditions to protect their players from the spread of the vovel Corona virus.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Shield finals, which are held in the league system between the three clubs qualifying for the finals, were stopped after the decision of the competent authorities in the Sultanate after one confrontation that brought Al-Seeb club with Nizwa and ended with the latter's victory, so that there remain two matches, one between Nizwa and Ahli Sidab and the second between Al Seeb and Ahli Sidab.
As a result of the continuing repercussions of the spread of the Corona virus, and in order to preserve the health of the players, and the clubs’ keenness on not exposing their players to the disease, they directed their letters to the OVA suggesting that the financial prizes to be distributed equally to the clubs, which the ministry in turn agreed to distribute the prizes to the three clubs based on their desire.
