Muscat, November 17 (ONA) - The first national football team concludes today its internal camp, which started on November 2 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher, during which it conducted 3 friendly experiences with Muscat Club and two friendly experiences with the Olympic team.
During the past training days, the technical staff focused on a set of technical aspects, including raising the level of physical fitness, compatibility and harmony between the players, in addition to identifying the technical and skill levels of each player and the positions in which they play. The camp list includes 26 players with a mix of experience and youth players, hoping that the new faces that have been selected will appear at a good level, compensating for the low levels of some players in various positions.
This camp is part of the preparations for the national team to complete its participation in the double Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Finals, in which our national team is still ranked second in Group E with 12 points behind the Qatari team, with 13 points.
Maqbool bin Muhammad Al Balushi, director of the first national football team, said that the coach has great satisfaction from the current camp, who had the opportunity to closely follow all the players, especially those who were unable to participate in the past camps because of their association with their clubs through 20 training sessions peppered with enthusiasm and seriousness, in which the players exerted their technical and skilful efforts.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, Al-Balushi explained that the first three matches the national team played with Muscat and the other two matches with the Olympic team played each half in each match with a specific formation, which provided the opportunity to follow the levels and capabilities of all players who presented good levels and gave a positive indication of the readiness of all players.
The director of the national team indicated that the next camp will be next March 2021. The coach hopes that all players will show their known levels with their clubs during the launch of the league, to be watched under the watchful eye of the technical staff and be prepared continuously.
He indicated that the next camp, which will be in the FIFA days, the technical staff with the Oman Football Association will seek to conduct some friendly matches that precede the completion of the Asian qualifiers in an attempt to determine the starting line-up in which he will play the first of these matches with Qatar, then Bangladesh, and then with Afghanistan.
