Washington, October 6 (ONA) - The US Department of Labour praised the efforts made by the Sultanate in combating child labour, noting the legislation and decisions issued in this regard.
In a report published on its website, she said that the Sultanate has made progress in 2019 in efforts to eliminate the worst forms of child labour, as the Ministry of Social Development has issued regulations to determine whether the child is working in an official framework in a family work, and the medical examinations that must be completed before the child is employed.
The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking ran two training programs over several days for officials on combating human trafficking, and the Ministry of Labour issued a video in Arabic and English explaining the rights and responsibilities of the expatriate workforce.
It also noted the importance of raising the minimum working age to the minimum age for compulsory education and continuing to train labour inspectors on new regulations related to combating child labour.
