Starting from Sunday, the Electronic Census Project of Population, Housing and Establishment 2020, will begin a visit program to the private sector institutions in all governorates of the Sultanate in cooperation with the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The program aims at updating and completing the data needed to link addresses of enterprises and employees to electricity account numbers. This includes linking the addresses of establishments and the employees with the electricity account number. It also includes linking workers data with their working places and accommodations addresses, as well as addresses of the expatriate families with their electricity accounts numbers in order to prove their geographical locations.
The launch of this program confirms the importance of identifying the geographical distribution of population, housing and establishments for setting the national plans and strategies that serve the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Linking the electricity account numbers to the population, housing and establishments’ database will also serve the mechanisms of the new addressing system, the mechanisms of documenting the Rental contracts, and will help in organizing the collective housing of the expatriate workforce. It will also serves in enhancing the planning process for providing the basic public services and facilities such as hospitals, schools, and the other components of the infrastructure.
In conducting the electronic census 2020 project, the Sultanate has tended to use electricity account information as a tool to prove the individuals’ and establishments’ address, due to its accuracy and coverage of all residential and non-residential units.
The project management urges all citizens, residents and business owners to update their data at related authorities in the Sultanate.ONA
