PASFR Follows up International Prices of Food Commodities

The Public Authority for Stores and Food Reserve (PASFR) follows up the international prices for basic food commodities and monitors any abnormal movement in the indicators of those prices, which are mainly related to global production and consumption rates, commercial shipping movement and global net stocks of these commodities, depending on data issued by international organizations specializing in food, agriculture and grain trade.

According to the latest available and updated data with PASFR, highlighting rice, wheat and sugar commodities, as they come on top of the basic food commodities consumed in the Sultanate, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) generally expects that the world grain markets during the current season 2019/2020 will maintain a good level of supplies that can cover global demand for them even as consumption increases.
