ONA__The GCC Human Rights Institutions’ Forum wound up in Muscat yesterday with a set of recommendations. The two-day forum called upon GCC institutions to devise human rights strategies in cooperation and partnership with the relevant authorities in each country. It recommended that the strategies be consistent with international conventions, to help achieve the desired integration in this regard.
The forum was organized by the Oman Human Rights Commission in cooperation with the GCC Secretariat General. It advised all human rights institutions in GCC states to seek to obtain an “A” classification based on the Paris Principles, which define the categories of membership in the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions. This would have a significant impact on efforts to promote human rights, it was observed at the conclusion of the forum.
