The Main Committee of the Media Excellence Award 2026 held its third meeting, chaired by H.E. Mohammed bin Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information and Chairman of the Committee.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the progress of the evaluation process for entries submitted to the competition through the electronic system, which represents a qualitative shift in the history of the competition. Entries were received through digital forms, then screened and submitted to judging panels for electronic evaluation. The committee also reviewed the various activities associated with the competition, including preparations to organise a workshop on television drama scriptwriting and a lecture on creativity and innovation in the age of artificial intelligence. It also discussed preparations for the competition’s closing ceremony, scheduled to be held next October.

The Ministry of Information had announced that applications to participate in the Media Excellence Award 2026 would be open from 6 May to 14 June 2026, covering the fields of journalism, radio and television, and electronic media. The competition targets media institutions, individuals working in or interested in the media sector, media students at academic institutions, and media content creators.

The competition aims to encourage national talents to pursue creativity and innovation in the media sector, enhance professional quality within media institutions, highlight national media talents and recognise their achievements, and reinforce the role of national media as an active partner in achieving Oman Vision 2040.
